Custom Training

We would be happy to customize our training courses to meet the needs of your organization. We have successfully put on single- and multi-day training for government agencies, private companies and others on topics ranging from site investigations, practical environmental statistics, groundwater fundamentals, and risk assessments.

Below is a list of training courses that may be of interest to you:

Ecological Risk Assessment – Fundamentals and Beyond

This course takes ecological risk assessment to a practical level, giving you an understanding of the process, touching on where guidance ends and “best practice” takes over, and focusing on what really matters in terms of protection of the environment and meeting regulatory requirements.

For contaminated site practitioners, site owners/managers, and regulators, to whom the knowledge and use of risk assessment is a must.

Terrestrial TRIAD in Ecological Risk Assessment – Mt. Polley Mine Tailings Dam Breach

This course provides a new and exciting approach to ecological risk assessments for large wildlands sites, like the Mount Polley Mine. The approach combines the traditional approach of terrestrial risk assessment with tried and proven methods from forest ecology to create a new TRIAD approach (similar to the TRIAD approach used for aquatic risk assessment).

For broad participation by risk assessors, site assessors, site managers and regulators.

Contaminated Site Fundamentals From Investigation to Closure (Sampling, Regulations, Fate and Transport, Risk Assessment, Remediation and Statistics)

This course provides you with the fundamentals of contaminated sites science, engineering and regulation and provides an opportunity for practical training through real life examples.

For professionals, practitioners and managers who want to learn how to apply science and tools to better understand contaminated sites investigation, risk assessment, and remediation.

Effective Spill Response in BC

This course provides an update on the province’s initiatives and intended direction; fundamentals of response, remediation and restoration projects; industry perspectives and experience from existing response regimes; Case studies pulled from the headlines; and insights on response organization, clean-up standards, risk assessment and compensation/liability.

For professionals who deal with heavy oil, condensate, brine, tailings, refined fuels and industrial chemicals in any capacity.

Conceptual Site Model – Introduction

FREE

Why are we doing this?

The objective of GeoEnviroPro Talks is to further support the application of solid environmental science in the real world, and to introduce new concepts to solve old problems. We want to build a community of contaminated site practitioners and look forward to helping you on your professional journey.

Some of BC’s most experienced remediation practitioners, including Dr. Reidar Zapf-Gilje and Hydrogeologist Guy Patrick, are pulling together over 104 years of cumulative experience to have some frank, honest, focused talks on critical issues to practicing professionals today.

We’ll spend ½ hour each week presenting and discussing important and interesting topics with you – topics relevant to environmental professionals. New technical tools (and some old ones!), regulatory issues, case studies, remediation, emerging (and emerged!) contaminants, and risk assessment. We promise to include time for dialogue and questions.
