This presentation explores HIA and how it can be effectively applied and integrated within the Environmental/Impact Assessment process.

Health Impact Assessment Lead and an Environmental Health Scientist

Dr. Faiza Waheed is the Health Impact Assessment Lead and an Environmental Health Scientist at Intrinsik. She specializes in the use of the HIA framework as it applies to major infrastructure and resource development projects, as well as in applying a Gender-Based Analysis Plus approach. Faiza has co-authored guidance documents for Health Canada for federal Impact Assessment projects and also for the Ontario Ministry of Transportation for assessing health in major new projects. Faiza is a member of the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada’s Technical Advisory Committee and also the co-chair of the Ontario Public Health Association’s built environment and health working group.
