GWSDAT (www.gwsdat.net) is an open source, user-friendly, application developed in the collaboration with the University of Glasgow for the visualization and interpretation of groundwater monitoring data. In this talk, Wayne will tell the story behind GWSDAT since its first release over 10 years ago and will explain the critical factors for successful uptake in the environmental monitoring industry.

Wayne Robert Jones

BSc (Hons), MSc, PhD, CSTAT.

Wayne Jones is a Principal Data Scientist with Shell Global Solutions in the United Kingdom. He has a BSc (Hons) degree in Mathematics from the Bangor University of Wales, a MSc in ‘Mathematical Modelling for Industry’ from the University of Loughborough and a PhD in Ecological Modelling from the University of Strathclyde. Wayne became a chartered statistician in 2008, and during his 17 years in Shell has worked on a wide variety of projects, including microgrid dispatch optimization, fuels science, renewables power forecasting and the analysis of environmental monitoring data.
