Keltech Environmental Ltd. and GeoEnviroPro Training Professionals are partnering to deliver The 2025 Contaminated Sites Investigation Field School! This hands-on program is designed to address key elements of field methods and protocols for contaminated sites investigations following latest guidance and best practices. The course will be taught over two days by highly experienced and knowledgeable practitioners, Al Robison, Keltech, and Ian Hers, HEC / GeoEnviroPro.
The collection of representative and reliable environmental field data is vital to a successful contaminated sites investigation. What you acquire in the field will be relied upon to characterize the contaminated site, and is the foundation behind many of the recommendations for future site management. The methods used to collect field samples must conform to best practices and applicable guidance. There are many ways to collect representative samples, but what you choose will depend on project objectives and site-specific conditions (e.g., drilling methods). Sampling methods continue to improve (e.g., soil vapour methods) and it is important to get up-to-speed with the latest approaches. In this course, we bring the information together, in a highly practical and digestible manner in both classroom and field format. We introduce and demonstrate sampling methods, describe how to collect field data and samples, and provide examples and tips based on our experiences. We’ll also review key quality assurance and quality control metrics, and test knowledge using interactive discussion. The learning process will be enhanced through demonstrations and step-by-step procedures together with discussion and exercises.
Students who complete this course successfully will be able to:
