GeoPro Talks: Remediation of Chemetron Lagoon: Overcoming Challenges in Hazardous Waste Management
The Chemetron Lagoon (CL) project focused on the remediation of a former industrial site contaminated with hazardous materials, including polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). The project successfully excavated and solidified PCB-contaminated sludge, and upon completion, the site will be transformed into parkland, offering social and economic benefits to the residents of Port Hope.
GeoPro Talks: The Power and Benefits of Using Hydrogeological Conceptual Site Models at Contaminated Sites
Hydrogeological conceptual site models (CSMs) adapted to the environmental field are often not used or are underutilized when completing contaminated site investigation and remediation work. CSMs can be an effective tool even in the earliest stages of a contaminated sites investigation when no intrusive geologic, hydrogeologic, or chemistry data has been collected. If used at […]
GeoPro Talks: Murphy’s Inference – When Excavations Look Nothing Like the Cross Section
Come join us this Wednesday November 6 for a classic talk and discussion on the conceptual model versus reality. GeoEnviroPro’s Pete Craig walks us through the Do’s and Don’t’s of site characterization and remediation from a contractor’s perspective. This Talk was originally recorded in 2017 , but remains as relevant today as it did then. […]
GeoPro Talks: Revolutionizing Soil Analysis: Harnessing Artificial Intelligence in Site Characterization Technology
Petroleum hydrocarbons and chlorides, often resulting from spills and other industrial activities, present significant challenges to both ecological systems and human health. Traditional methods for field evaluation of these contaminants can be fraught with challenges, including human error, environmental variability, and calibration issues. Due to this, making reliable field-level decisions can be an uncertain, complex […]

Rerun GeoPro Talks – Don’t Forget to Look Up…or Down! Some things to think about when assessing groundwater flow
GeoPro Talks is pleased to present Stephen Munzar with Core 6 Environmental on a fundamental hydrogeology topic: “ Don’t Look Up…or Down – Some things to think about when assessing groundwater flow ”. You don’t want to miss this one! It’s a re-run from a few years ago but remains highly relevant today. And Stephen will join us live […]
GeoPro Talks: The Hurdles of Introducing New Nature-Based Remediation Technologies to Industry
Nature-based technologies for treating and conserving contaminated soil are gaining popularity as companies look for ways to reduce remediation costs and their carbon footprints to address ESG expectations from shareholders and the public. Treating soil onsite, especially using nature-based methods, is a sustainable way of remediating and conserving soil, reducing carbon emissions associated with soil […]
